Caring for Your Textured Extensions

Curl and wave patterns need a different care rhythm than straight extensions — here's the breakdown.

The Keratin Tip Textures in Curly and Wavy are designed to blend seamlessly with natural texture, but that texture needs its own care approach. This guide gives clients (and you) the specifics for keeping curl pattern, moisture, and longevity intact.

Gentle Detangling

Before washing or styling, detangle with a wide-tooth comb or fingers. Start from the ends and work upward to avoid breakage, and always detangle when hair is dry to avoid putting unnecessary stress on the bonds.

Hydration Is Key

Textured hair needs extra moisture to stay soft and defined. A sulfate-free, hydrating shampoo and conditioner is the baseline; a deep conditioning treatment once a week keeps extensions moisturized and healthy long-term.

Drying Your Extensions

After washing, gently squeeze out excess water with a towel. Avoid rubbing or wringing, and let extensions air-dry whenever possible to preserve texture. If heat is necessary, use a heat protectant and a diffuser on low heat.

Defining Your Curls

A lightweight curl cream or leave-in conditioner, applied with a scrunching motion, defines curl and wave pattern without weighing it down. For more definition, twisting or braiding hair while damp and letting it air-dry is the move.

Nighttime Care

Sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase reduces friction. A loose braid, twist, or silk scarf prevents tangling overnight while protecting curl pattern.

Heat Styling

The Textures are heat-safe, but minimal heat tool use protects curl integrity longer. When heat is necessary, always use a heat protectant and a lower setting.

Routine Maintenance

Regular maintenance appointments keep extensions in optimal condition. This is also the right moment for a stylist to check bond condition and recommend texture-specific products.
